Sergey Khachatryan was only six years old when her received his first violin lessons from P. Haykazyan in Armenia. His family left this country and went to Germany and here Sergey continued his studies. At the age of nine he already gave his first concert with an orchestra at the Wiesbadener Kurhaus. The year 2000 at the age of 15, Sergey won lots of prices such as the first price at the international violin contest Jean Sibelius in Helsinki, the youngest winner ever. In 2005 he won the first price in the prestigious Queen Elisabethcontest (for violin). In 2010 he recorded all of the partitas and sonatas from J.S. Bach.

  • So intense. Touches the soul.

  • congratulation to today's win of Mont Prix 2011 in Berlin. It was a wonderful concert. Thank you so much for your music.

  • It's great to see how things outside are still working and moving while inside the room, everything seems to stop, just to listen to his violin playing

  • Sergey has always been our favorite. He always plays from his heart. You may want to listen to Erkki's version, just search "erkki louko bach" as Youtube doesn't seem to allow links in comments.

  • Celestial...!! I have listened to Szeryng and others play the Bach solo sonatas and partitas, following along with Szeryng's book , for 10's of 1000's of hours it seems like ... For me, it has always been the tone..the intonation found on these incredible instruments...and the heavenly musical ideas Bach had in his head !! I hope everyone has viewed "The Art of Violin" from PBS...Ciao, David F. Montgomery
