Excellent coverage of this race. Sailing is a risk all sailors take and they accept it for the thrill of the race. Brave men and women that defy the elements to win a race. My hat is off to them and to the men and women that go to their aide. Thanks for sharing.

It's called the human spirit. Fortunately history hasn't been moulded by you keyboard critics. It has been shaped by those willing to test the strength of the human body and the mind. You call it a sporting foible, but these men hold the same fortitude you could never imagine. It is the same inner strength which not only survives great adversary in the sporting world, but also will cures cancer, or revolutionize motor transport safety. They disegard their own lives for the betterment of yours.

For all you poor people moaning about the tax dollars, remember that the people that can afford these yachts pay more tax in a year than you do in a lifetime, so hey, let them get there money's worth.

As for the brave rescue swimmers & pilots, that's a job they chose, and good on them. They would just as hapily rescue a poor person who drank to much extra strength lager and reversed his pickup truck off a cliff.

Its funny how none of them offered to pay all the emergency services, later picked up by the Australian tax payers! Too many rich people with not enough brains!

I can't believe it: they would do it again!

And it seems, they were not ashamed at all, that the rescue teams risked their lives, only because they sailed inspite of stormwarnings- playing boys games and then let others save them.

Those rescue guys are real heroes.

I've seen this video before. very gripping since one of those sailors is my father and was lucky to survive. thanks for putting this up.
