The government didn't interfere with the depression of 1920 (not 1929), and we were out of it in a year. It was caused by the inflationary period of WW1 due to the Federal Reserve, and the bust that inevitably came.

The only thing Obama-Bush has saved us from is a healthy economy. The same thing happened with the Great Depression: inflationary period in the mid 20's, bust in 1929; the government stepped in to "save" us, it made the Depression "Great" and long lasting.

  • corporate capitalism and the federal reserve are crap. We will not have anything approaching civil society until we have the demise of america as we know it. We need to imagine a society that works for everyone and create the ground rules for a just and peaceful nation.

  • NO REALLY WHO FARTED!!!! In the first few seconds of this video something sounds funny!

  • Letting banks collapse and go out of business would not cause tough times for a couple of years. It'd cause problems for a whole generation. Like it or not, President Obama stopped the US from going into a depression.

  • ron paul for honesty!

  • @jcrowley1985 Agreed. If the U.S. government can print and sell it's own government bonds, then it can also print its own currency. Until there's real monetary reform, the debts will continue to increase, so will inflation.

  • @jcrowley1985 The fed is the problem, but we're screwed. There is no way our society will handle the massive austerity that must happen, and we will probably need to default.

  • @Thatmakessense356 Yet the fed got us into this mess. They were the ones who printed the trillions for all those bailouts out of thin air; making everyone's money worth so much less. The fed is the problem.
