You know what. I started using this technique before I even knew about Pomodoro. The only other distraction I have are people coming into my room saying "Wow you gotta see this youtube video, it's just nuts". I have found that pikes through the head eliminate this one.

Practice the Vipassana technique of meditation. You will gain much more than short bursts of concentration.

A wise man once said “We are all at the mercy of our wild monkey minds. Incessantly swinging from branch to branch.”
The ticker sound does not really bother me. Its kind of like its a gameshow and I am playing to the last minute. Amazing things happen when the pressure is on!

Holy hell that timer in the lower left is unbelievably distracting and annoying. Trust me, I'll take your word for it that the presentations are timed properly, I don't need to see the timer myself, thanks.

Wow I need to stop texting and driving especially after really drinking 4 beers :-O

@tech99070 I had that problem also in the beginning. First the sound is annoying and distracts you. But afterwards after some pomodoro's it becomes part of the pomodoro and it means you are actually doing quality work. After a while you start to look at it like that and the ticking sound becomes a peaceful positive sound.
I'm the Greg Head in the video. The Lifehacker article "The Pomodoro Technique Trains Your Brain Away From Distractions" incorrectly says I'm a software developer, but I'm really a marketing strategy consultant at New Avenue, and former software industry executive.
Get the a simple PDF ebook that explains the entire process in detail on the Pomodoro Technique official website.
I use the free software called Pomodoro Desktop for Mac.

for people who can't focus with a ticking sound, there is a google chrome app called the "tomatoist" that uses the pomodoro technique.
