Today was the last day of recording dor the Rhys Marsh track the afterglow. This song was really great to record as it was very dynamic and had a lot of little arrangement parts that I could colour and work with.

Rhys Marsh is a terribly talented british artist who has moved to Norway and we have been working together on a couple of tracks for his previous album that should be out sometime early this fall.

The Idea was of course that I would record some drums and then get on with it but it didn't out that easy. I ended up recording a lot of stuff, percussion, Orchestrons, Mellotrons and in the end I actually got the drums right even though it took a while.

This film is of me recording a small line on the Persephone. This is a new snthesizer that is built to emulate the sound of the ondes martenot and the theremin. Since I bought I have been using it a lot both in the studio and live. In this recording it is being treated through the oogerfooger analog delay and then some roland spring reverb goodness.

This little snippet of film was recorded with my mobile phone at my studio in Sundbyberg. If you are curious about the Roth Händle studio and the music that is recorded there or maybe you want to find out more about the instruments...well I suggest you go by www.roth-handle.nu It hasn't been updated for a while but there should be some interesting bits and pieces.

Thanks for watching,

Mattias

  • Simplicity at its best?

Armadillos may contain from traces to big amounts of Stomach Ache. Use precaution when preparing those beauties and always fry well done.

  • You are fast ! And apparently in the mood for Armadillo...

  • ?! Why not eat it, chickens/ cows / sheep / pigs / turkeys aren't the only edible animals around.

  • I think the lepracy thing is sort of a turnoff when it comes to armadillos.

  • Knowing what they look like kind of destroys your appetite.

  • I guess its about the presentation of it...! Ill choose a very dark room...

  • The funny thing is that its like 4 notes...and a sound...And it really adds a lot to the general atmosphere....

  • Nice. :o)#

  • Interesting and pleasant process ;-) It's amazing how music affects human imagination, feelings and mood...

Was there ever artist ,who you didn't like and have totally different vision of how your collaboration should look like ? Is it often when u have to refuse ?....And...how was it with Krzysztof? I guess you liked each other and maybe even have some fun working together ;-P

  • Well...that the positive spin on it. I am very lucky to work with artists that I really like that I feel I have a connection to which makes it so much easier..

When I hear a song I start seeing little pictures or films where I see the song taking place so then I start looking for sounds that will fit in with those pictures.
