Shimira...An unlucky first two weeks!

Ok so this is going to be a long description but PLEASE READ otherwise this video is not going to make much sense...

So Shimira has arrived and first 24 hours went very smoothly; her and her fieldmates were very happy together and were fine in each others company. However, for reasons that we don't know, Shimira decided at some point to try and jump out of her field over three, five-bar gates. We have explored all reasoning as to why this might have happened but haven't come up with an explanation...and anyway, needless to say she didn't come out of it too well!

She has sever bruising and cuts all over her body and legs (which are not all in this video as I would have been here forever) but the main two issues were her front right leg in which she cut open her leg. The metal from the gate managed to miss any tendons and instead when straight between them so we were really fortunate that there wasn't more damage. She had the bandage removed from this wound as you will see from the video. She also tore open the inside of her left back leg at the top near her belly. This looked nasty but was not as deep as the front leg, it just covered a much larger surface area. This wound was stapled together, but has since become infected and has shim has also managed to pull three of the stitches out (hence the hole that you see in one of the photos). This is still being treated with injections, iodine flushing, antibiotics and bute on a daily basis and she is still on box rest. Hopefully not for much longer though....

So yer, not the best start :/

Please bear in mind though, that as much as this is a tragedy, shim and I have grown very close over the last 2 weeks, and she has been an angel to handle. The treatments she has everyday into the open wounds must hurt like hell but she never kicks or goes for me. And also she has never been stabled before, and has been nothing but a pro about it! Im so proud of her...

Oh and the btw its her 2nd Birthday today!! Happy Birthday to my yellow pony!

Thank you for the lovely comments! I would love to get another video of me and shimira up on to my channel but things have taken a bit of a turn for the worse for her with injuries etc so I literally dont have the time to do anything!! I'll get an update to explain everything asap! xxxx
