In-Car video from our 1969 BMW 2002 ("Willy") during the Marystown South stage at Targa Newfoundland. This was a busy stage. Earlier in the day we had lost our exhaust system so the noise was deafening. The audio in this clip is from our intercom, and sounds good - but due to the noise, I couldn't always hear what Ed was telling me so he started using hand signals as well. The other compounding factor was the carbon monoxide that was making us sick through the day.

Later this day (Thursday), we broke an internal oil line fitting and flooded the inside of our car with oil. We didn't finish that stage but fixed everything that night. The next stage on Friday morning we blew our motor - most likely as a result of the brief oil starvation the day before.

  • Check your call at 3:36, its a right turn, hand signal is for a square right, but verbal call is "square left". Silly codrivers, man I couldnt do it. I'm staying in the left seat.

  • @rogermatthews LOL - well, the noise from a broken exhaust at the header was deafening and we were suffering from CO2 poisoning, so I let that one go... :-)

  • Nice Run! Ed sounds like a robot :-)

What was a wild ride! Where do you learn to drive like that on city streets?

  • Fantastic run! Love the car!

  • 1:46 me

  • @jackhealy1 Yeah, I know the feeling. I had a nice exhaust modification last year at the 100AW rally, ie exhausting through the tunnel, blueflaming right into the cockpit. Didnt work out so well for CO levels. Anyways, nice driving and sure looks like a fun little car! Would love to make it up to that event in the next year or two.

  • NIce vid Jack and Ed. We did this run on 7 cyl....

  • Love it! Wish I was their!
