The goal here was to see if the output of a Tesla Coil would follow a stream of water being sprayed off the side of a toroid. To give the water better conductivity salt was added to it. The setup is rather straight forward a plastic 12 oz. RC airplane fuel tank connected to a windshield washer pump then to 1/4in. copper tubing with a brass tip. Not shown is the two 12 volt battery packs consisting of eight AA's each and wired parallel for 12 volts output. A small micro switch is fastened to the battery packs and a kite string attached to the switch to turn the pump on and off. The pump sprays the water about eight feet or so, but the coils output seems to only follow the stream about a one foot. The effect was very strange and I will be doing some more experimenting to see if the coils output came be made to travel farther. First thing is to add a bigger water supply so it lasts more than a few seconds. Any ideas / comments are welcome. • try sending the charge along a UV laser beam, i read somewhere that a laser beam if having enough energy can create an ion channel in the air and electricity will follow it

  • @blissoway That is something I have wanted to try for a long time. It sounds simple but is not, that's not to mention the cost of a UV laser. A homemade TEA laser may be one possiblity that I have put much thought into. Nothing is impossible

  • Thats some crazy shit!

  • @Mike2Dogg....... Why yes it is, just wait till I get to test the improved version.

  • the inventor who knows all about it is jan eric herr, who lived in San diego at the time he patented it.

  • @spinningabrasive Patent number: 5675103 explains a tetanizing non-lethal beam weapon, i just glossed over the patent when i was looking for ways to make a real life starwars blaster. but they explain and cite lots of references for how they came about to their conclusions.

  • yes. a salt water solution might work... also try blowing something like aluminum poder or some metal ground into a powder and shooting it past the coil.. im shore it will be vary interesting

  • @blissoway where did you hear it? im shoure using any powerful laser might work if it is strong enugh to in any way ionize the air it will definetly fallow it but probibly not for long

  • Needs an electrolyte maybe? you try making a strong salt water solution?

  • that could be like a lighting gun
