  • Truely some of the most beautiful music of all time. This was my fathers favorite piece. He is no longer with us but when I hear this it feels like he still is.

  • If you ever hear a performance better than this please let me know because I haven't. I wish Rachmaninov had lived long enough to hear Kapell play his Rhapsody; it would have probably inspired him to compose another one just for him! This is lovely music played with utmost commitment and gracefully by one of the most electrifying pianists of the last century. Thank you Kapell, thank you Reiner and the orchestra, and above all thank you Rachmaninov. Thanks for uploading this gem.

  • thanks for this comment on Kapell. Yes its difficult to explain why this is the best you can do but it is.... You feel it or you don t.... all the other interpretations I know are far from this. and it comes from a man who did concentrate his life on music in a way nobody does today. That brought him to that level of magic.... He must have been humble also as he respects the composer and the work and puts his ego behind. few pianists and musicians have that quality

  • It doesn't get any better than this, and Reiner is the perfect partner in concept and execution. "Robin Hood Dell" was RCA's name for members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Many thanks for doing such a superlative job of uploading this; the sound is the best I've ever heard on this ancient recording.

  • Only a mountain could have stopped him from becoming the greatest...

  • Rachmaninoff's rhapsody should be of pure eloquence in line with the orchestra and Kapell takes you there. Thank you.
