This is a "just for fun" video Sunii and I made of some cat-felting we did. Real pet-felting is more involved and includes washing the fur as well. One of my favorite artists at www.rabbitsandribbons.com has some beautiful pet-felted items on her website!

  • Oh yeah, so gross. I guess the wool scarves and sweaters you probably wear in winter time are gross, too. ::rolls eyes:: this is actually kinda neat, i think. I might not do it myself but i admire the resourcefulness of it.

  • Finally after 1000 views somebody says something - LOL! My kids and I did this as a bit of a joke. We had been felting the week before and then one day were petting our cats and noticed that when we used the brush to pet them it came off as "felt" and one thing led to another...you know how 9 and 11-year-olds are. LOL have not made a scarf yet but my 9-year-old wanted me to make her a sweater! YUCK! If you actually want to make stuff you need to clean and card it first.

  • strippy is a stupid name for a cat. No offence

  • I dont think it's gross but it's possibly the strangest thing I've ever seen XD

  • Hmmmm..... Now I know what to do with my German Shepherd's fur.

I don't think this is gross at all. I have a friend who took fresh dead mice her cat caught, skin them, tan them and sew Barbie fur coats. She loved finding fresh road kill. This in the 2nd grade. Now THAT'S gross! But for a 2nd grader, that's pretty clever. I can only imagine what the teacher and the rest of the class were thinking when she brought her fur coats for show and tell (true story!).

  • If you think its gross, you must think petting a cat or other animal is gross too. Lol. This is a good idea. I'm going to try this with the fur my chinchillas shed! Lol. I'll make a mini needle felted chinchilla from shed fur!

  • LOL, I thought the same thing when I was petting my mom's bichon frise the other day! I was like, "Mom you could totally make this dog's fur into a sweater". I guess that makes me as goofy as an 11 year old, lol. But yeah you definitely would have to clean and card the fur first. Idk, I've heard of people actually doing that so maybe it's not such a crazy idea after all ;)
