On my recent journey through India I found myself in a small village called MoolSagar in the Thar desert, near Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan. Here lives a man called Tagaram Bheel, who happens to be the worlds best Algoja player - Algoja is the traditional Rajasthani double flute which he's playing here in the video. I had heard of him before and had finally found him in this village, and I ended up buying one of his Algojas. At the end of our meeting we had a photo session which turned into a spontaneous Jam - him on the Algoja, me on the Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute).
Sorry for the bad sound and disturbing wind noises, it was very windy and the movie was taken just with a photo camera. But I thought it was worth putting it up, just for the fun of it.
This literally brought me to tears. I'm Indian, last summer when I traveled the Himalayas, I had a similar experience but on percussions. Music lives everywhere.
