pop music...respect to mute records

They were raining from the sky
Exploding in my heart
Is this a love in disguise
Or just a form of modern art

From the skies you can almost hear their cry
Tora! Tora! Tora!
In the town they were going down
Tora! Tora! Tora!

I had a nightmare only yesterday
You played a skeleton
You took my love then died that day
I played an American

From the skies you can almost hear them cry
Tora! Tora! Tora!
In the town they were going down
Tora! Tora! Tora!

I played an American
I played an American

  • Tora Tora Tora is actually one of the reasons this first album of Depeche Mode is a classic, with features still unsurpassed today.

Well, just recently people are actually stealing the superb drum sequence of this song. Listen to Swedish House Mafia's hit "Save The World"...

  • Martin Gore is pure genius!!!!!

  • @scbwrhcp

I think maybe Martin wrote the song and they were refering to that

not sure but I think that's what happened.

  • Dive Dive Dive..!

  • @SuperBrictson This is Dave Gahan singing! But the instrumentals are fantastic, yes!

  • blows away every other track on speak and spell. martin gore is a genius

  • THEY WERE RAINING FROM THE SKIE !!! .... I PLAYED AN AMERICAN !!! TORA TORA TORA !! DM4EVER

  • I adore this song which never ever sounds boring or dated and it's now 30 years old.

D Miller should take a lot of the credit for this as he made most of the sounds for this and the entire album on a ARP 2600 modular synth he bought from Elton John!

BTW dave sounds like he's singing " you played a skellington" on the second verse!
