I think there tears of happiness not tears of fear, his friends have my total respect for such a speedy rescue. ive beem skiing for over 10 years now and have skied solo twice before stupidly, thankfully this has never happened to me but i will never ever ski solo again after watching that horible experiance. hes lucky to be alive.

One of the first things you should do once you get a clear passage to the victim' head is try and get a pacifier into their mouth. That will help reduce the crying.

He is not necessarily crying. I believe he is wearing an Avalung, which is a commonly carried safety device for the backcountry that allows you to breath when youre completely buried. Every time you take a breath from the Avalung it makes a strange whiny noise, JUST LIKE THE SOUND YOU HEAR IN THIS VIDEO. This guy is very lucky to be alive, and lucky he had friends who could carry out such an efficient rescue. I dont believe he was crying, but I wouldnt make fun of him if he was.

Last year my dads boss go caught in an avalanche and the weight of the snow crushed his pelvis completely and he couldn't walk for over 6 months. One of my dads other friend was caught in an avalanche in Alta 10 years ago and didn't make it out alive. Your lucky to survive

You guys think you wouldn't cry in a situation like that? Well that just shows how inexperienced you are. When you are buried like that, you have no control of what's happening to you. The farthest goal you can accomplish is to survive long enough for someone to rescue you. And trust me, you don't have long. As an experienced back country skier, I know this could happen to me. I farther know that it is a mistake to assume you will stay calm when comes for you.

When that snow settles, it sets like concrete. He has absolutely no movement under that snow, notice how his hands don't move at all when he gets exposed. I'd have cried too, its instinct when you KNOW you should have died.
