I first heard this song 35 years ago when I was working on the crew at a summer camp. An Irish girl who worked with me sang it at a talent night, and the song enchanted me. Ever since, I've tried to find the lyrics and hear the melody again. Thank you for posting this!

Beautiful song, sung by a beautiful woman with an angelic voice. This song reminds me of my childhood and my love for the sea. The song is mysterious, sad, ironic and constantly goes round and round in my head whenever I walk on the sand with the sea splashing playfully against my feet and ankles. If I listened to it 1000 times I would still want to hear it again.....Nana makes it hypnotic and alluring.

This song is soooo beautiful!!! I suggest that you listen to original version of this song in Greek language. It's called: Θάλασσα Πλατιά. There is a beautiful video with translation on YT. Perhaps it sounds even better in Greek... lyrics is similar as in this English version...
