Two girls stranded in a taxi by flash flooding in northern Colombia have been rescued by a brave passer-by - and the heroic deed was filmed by an amateur cameraman.
Gian Carlos Gonzalez waded through the fast-flowing waters and carried the passengers to safety in the city of Barranquilla on Thursday.
The young man said he acted because the situation was "desperate".
"I took my clothes off and went to help the girls who were in the taxi," he said.
"[I was] tied to a rope and without thinking I went out to help them because they were in trouble.
"Fortunately we were able to help them and everything came out ok, thank God."
Amateur video shows the taxi being washed away shortly after the girls were rescued and as the driver was trying to escape.
He was swept away along with the car, but was later plucked from the waters by soldiers.
Floods are frequent on the northern coast of Colombia at this time of year, with the rainy season lasting until October.
Earlier this year, the International Red Cross issued a report asking local authorities to implement systems to monitor the levels of the local river to avoid risk to the population.
