Horace Parlan was crippled from polio at a young age. It's really an inspiration that he can even hit those b9 neutrals. As a piano player, I return to these videos in large part to witness the genius progression of Parlan's solo. I don't fault you for not knowing about his condition, just for not researching his biography. If you're going to surreptitiously comment about an obvious physical abnormality, you should at least supplement it with some sort of humanistic depth.

@esolarceoaol First of all, Shepp is a spiritual musician. He plays the notes he wants to play, and he plays with the sound he wants to play. It may be unpleasant to you, but i am past the notion that any sound can be bad. Its his sound, and he doesnt have to play more challenging lines just so you can say he sounds better. You know, Louis Armstrong also had his own sound. He didnt have to change, because he already discovered his voice, and so did Archie

Again you? You are everywhere blablaing Archie Shepp, aren´t you? You are just a desperate troll, inflating your miniscule ego by sucking in hot air and releasing bad vibrations. Attempted vilification of a giant won´t turn you into an artist. Please dissolve again into the vacuity you belong.

bad technique? who cares? you dont know what jazz is, man. it goes way beyond technique. or would you say that ornette coleman is a textbook example of how not to play the saxophone.
