An update on my quest to go caffeine-free.
(footnote: I eventually determined that decaf coffee was even less healthy and went back to regular... still glad I embarked on this personal quest, however).

Also revisiting a question I posed close to one year ago:

How do YOU define this for yourself?

*NOTE: For those who were around back then, if you did a video response last year, feel like your answer hasn't changed, and would like to attach that one here, you're more than welcome to.

  • i would define success as any victory over something either hard through your own nature or that of your situation, and therefore, you have succeded

(sry bout the atrocious spelling, but my microsoft word won't run so i can't spellcheck XD)

  • No problem with the spelling; I got it all.

    :-)

I switched to Firefox from Internet Explorer and was elated to see that it came with a spell check feature. I'm even using it as I type this out. Way cool stuff!

OH! And I like your definition of success. It would apply to class projects that I've recently struggled to complete.

  • whoa, a Scientology ad on a youtube vid, that's nuts

I hope your caffeine quitting is going good :)

sorry for all these comments on old videos! I'm just trying to catch up!

  • Please don't apologize. I appreciate it, actually.

And the Scientology ads strike me as weird too. Gotta wonder how long that will last...!

  • I finally found the meaning of success Curt. Bob Dylan said it best: "A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do."

  • Dylan's a smart man!

*sat here taking that statement in for a mintue*

There are times when I get frustrated with the school thing (mainly because it's taken me so long to get through it), but ultimately, even if I've spent hours working on some assignment that annoys me, the end result is that I HAVE done what I wanted to do. It all spills out into the same thing: that BA I've been working towards.

Thanks for this, Jim. I think I needed this as a reminder.

  • Hey, that works. That can come from all kinds of sources, too.

  • To me success is happyness and a sense of fufillment.

  • Thanks - I can relate to the confidence thing a lot! It gets a little easier as I get older, but I have a ways to go. Maybe we all do and we forget we're not alone in this one.

  • Hi Curt! Good luck with the caffeine less diet.

I think success is feeling comfortable in your own skin and having enough confidence to pursue your dreams. Then whether you succeed at fulfilling your dreams or not you know that at least you tried and with that you can lie your head at rest without regrets. I know that I would like more confidence.
