(SOUNDS BEST WITH HEADPHONES!)
This is a movie about seismology, earthquakes and seismic waves, using sound and images generated from seismic data from the USArray, from the EarthScope Program (NSF). We play data from three earthquakes in 2011: two from Japan including the magnitude 9.1, and the unusual event in Virginia (M5.9). This movie was made for an exhibit at the Open House at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University, New York, on October 1, 2011.
