On June 26, 2008, David Addington, Dick Cheney's favorite office lawyer, gave a bellicose and simply errant set of answers about the power of the vice president, and the president.

He simply parroted the old "Tricky Dick" Nixon talking points -- "when the President does it, it is not against the law."

Remember that Dick Cheney learned all of this a generation ago, working in Nixon's White House. That turned out well, no?

  • I'd like to point out that the GC does not apply to terrorist. Your weightless statement offers no relevance to the context of this perticular congressional hearing. Your video would be laughable if it weren't telling of the universally ridiculous sentiment shared by so many people living in the U.S. Anyone who knows anything about the subject of constitutional law knows by the end of this hearing the only thing revealed was the ignorance of congress to their own policies.

  • Okay Courtland912, here's where yours goes off the rails: at the start.

The Geneva Conventions -- particularly Article 3 -- apply to ALL PEOPLE. Any person captured by a signing party. The US is a signing party. Article 3 applies to all people we capture. Full stop.

Cheney and Bush43 tried to ignore this by having agents do the capturing. But that is sophistry. It did not work. Terrorist or no, we signed Article 3 -- as to all people we capture. You are no constitutional scholar. Namaste

  • yep, turns out you're right. good call. I am however a constitutional scholar... I'm just not yet ready to hold my own aganst the big boys and girls. Look for me in a few years nolocontendre2007.

  • Good luck, then courtland912.

And we'll see if the education changes your sensibilities.

    Namaste

  • Ironic,no. Coincidental,yes. I don't understand Russian LOL. Interesting though

  • prrolg: I asked you a question in Russian -- and, as irony would have it -- your answer: ". . .shouldn't be allowed near a polling place. . ."

Is a perfectly (old Soviet) Russian sentiment.

Of course, you MEANT to be ironic, right?!

    R-i-i-i-i-i-i-ight.

But, of course -- Вы бы идеальным фашист, не так ли?

  • I'm glad it makes no sence to you. Democracy is over in America. The people voting for Obama shouldn't be allowed near a polling place.

  • I know it will guarantee Obama's winning. Don't care. McCain would make as lousy a President as Obama.

And yes, I tell all of my conservative friends the same thing. If the Dems think Obama is so great, why not give them what they asked for? He can't be much worse than McCain would be, and if he is, it only means we will regain congress like in 1994.

  • gee prrolg, that comment sure made no sense at all.

can you type anything -- anything at all -- cogent? or no?

what makes any democrat a "worm"?

and do tell, here -- Что подразумевается под негр!?

    что это такое?

    heh!

ps: do as blogegog said s/he would. throw your vote away, on addington, this fall!

  • perfect! -- that sort of thinking guarantees senator obama the white house in 2008!

i thank you, blogegog! -- from the bottom of my heart! -- for wasting an otherwise republican-red-leaning vote.

do encourage ALL your repub-red-leaning friends to do so, as well!
