how to root and install froyo 2.2 on epic 4g, install clockworkmod recovery, and rom part 1

READ EVERYTHING BEFORE HAND!!!!!!!
AND WATCH WHOLE VIDEO AS WELL IF YOUR NEW TO THIS!!!!

all credit goes to the guys over at xda and sdx developers.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have installed the drivers before starting.
Also, remove the SD card from the phone (this may not be necessary,
but having the SD card installed has caused Odin to fail for a number of people,
so might as well just do it).

1. Download the required .tar file

2. Download Odin

3. Open up Odin and put your phone into "download mode"

4. Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off

5. Hold "1? on the keyboard while powering up

6. Plug your device in

7. Place the .tar file in the PDA slot

8. Press start to flash

9. Congratulations! You now have Android 2.2.1 Froyo (DK28) on your Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint!

@j2duhvis did you put it in the pda selection, also you don't have to unzip it or anything and if nothing else works then delete it an re-download the file, some times they get corrupted.

@mypd1991 thx 4 responding. But anyway yeha I put it in pda but it actually isn't a zip file its jus md5. My phone is rooted but I haven't added any kind of roms its still stock. All I've done is added wifi tether app other than that I'm kinda stuck right now. Any info helps thanks

AS much fun as all of this looks...Im sensing the risk of screwing up my phone out weighs the improvements by adding the ROM....Wireless tethering from Sprint sucks dick...The WIFI download speed is super SUPER slow...This ROM must overclock the CPU someone which leads to greater battery drain.

So the real question is...Why do this ?
