Well, if someone's life was at stake and a lie would protect them, then OK, but lying about income (to avoid tax) or lying on your CV or resume to push your way into a job you're not fit for - those are the lies that society encourages with its tooth and claw mentality and it doesn't get anyone anywhere, really, because society just falls apart and goes nowhere. Most lies are inexcusable and ultimately destructive.
