This black gown suits this role and Renee much better than the silver number this year---the strips bring out her eyes yet the mat black flatters her gorgeous blond hair --completed with the long gloves! The unsymmetrical cut is also a genius touch. What a shame Met dropped it. To be fair they should drop their Wagner repertoire all together with this lovely black dress!

Nothing but pure Strauss at 4:05, the old "Strauss Magic."

what language is this?

@hedgechair Fleming doesn't have a huge space between the incisors, lol. Just kidding, I love ES too.
Did you manage to sell you house and go to the Met, afterall? :-P I attented to the Live in HD broadcast.

Magnificent...Agree about earthy and shoulders. My wife would worry about me too.

Saw Schwarzkops and della Casa in this role (Vienna) and nearly died. Renee is wonderful, but this last Met radio broadcast was hardly Renee at her best. Voice and vocal affectations have caused serious damage. This is not the Renee of the Capriccio three years ago in Vienna....Sad....

@ullahoo silver sequin :) saw it too, but transmission was interrupted for the last scene :(

A few hours ago I saw the direct broadcast from MET. Renee took my breath away, and she had a much nicer dress too!
Ah, perfection!

At 5:42 one of the most Ingenious Melodies-Phrases ever composed, sung by Fleming better than anyone else ever did... the word Divine is poor to describe her in this Role... Musicianship and Voice beyond Dreams
