[The Jonases are eating breakfast together. The girls were still in bed]
FRANKIE: Pass me the waffles.
NICK: Here.
FRANKIE: Thanks.
MR JONAS: You boys look tired. What time did you go to bed?
JOE: I think past midnight.
MRS JONAS: You boys shouldn't keep the girls up so late. They'll probably wake up for dinner.
KEVIN: They're probably awake. They take a while getting ready.
JOE: Yeah, if they take half as much time as Kevin, they'll take a long while.
KEVIN: I do not take a long time.
JOE: Yeah you do.
MR JONAS: Boys...
MRS JONAS: So I was thinking. Since you boys don't want to watch the play with your mommy, why don't we all go to the party tonight?
NICK: There's a party?
MRS JONAS: Yeah. The theme is Hawaii.
MR JONAS: As long as I don't have to wear a grass skirt, I'm in.
JOE: [Laughing] You can keep your shorts on dad.
MRS JONAS: Ok. Well your father and I are scheduled for a spa treatment in a few. So will you boys watch Frankie?
[Nick quickly got up]
NICK: I think Sarah's looking for me. See you later.
KEVIN: Food was great. I'll see you guys later. Bye.
[Nick and Kevin took off. Kevin and Nick both left their brother, who wasn't even halfway through eating his breakfast]
JOE: Oh come on.
MR JONAS: Thanks Joe. Keep your eye on him.
[Both his parents got up and left. Frankie kept on eating]
JOE: I guess we're stuck together today.
FRANKIE: Yeah, yeah.
[They finished their food and just stayed sitting]
FRANKIE: Joe.
JOE: Yeah?
FRANKIE: Do you think I'll ever have a girlfriend?
JOE: [Smiling] Of course you will. Maybe not Sarah, but some other girl.
FRANKIE: You and Sheryll are boyfriend and girlfriend right?
JOE: Yeah.
FRANKIE: I don't get what boyfriends and girlfriends have to do though. Do they just hug and kiss each other?
JOE: [Laughing] They do, but there's a lot more to it than that.
FRANKIE: Like kissing your girlfriend's sister?
[The question confused Joe]
JOE: What?
FRANKIE: Doesn't the girlfriend have to kiss her boyfriend's brother too?
JOE: No. They're not supposed to kiss anyone else but their boyfriend/girlfriend.
FRANKIE: Oh.
JOE: What makes you think they can kiss other people and still stay together?
FRANKIE: Kevin tried to kiss Sheryll last night, and she's still your girlfriend.
[Tons of emotions played through him in a single moment: anger, hurt, disappointment]
JOE: Last night? Where?
FRANKIE: In front of Sheryll's room.
[Joe got up and grabbed Frankie by the arm]
FRANKIE: Hey! Where are we going?
JOE: Sheryll's room.
[Sheryll just got out of the shower which didn't really help her to lose the drowsy feeling. She was fixing her things when there was a loud knock on the door. She looked through the peephole. It was Joe]
SHERYLL: Hey Joe. Oh hi, Frankie. Come on in guys.
[When they were inside, Sheryll caught the angry look in Joe's face]
SHERYLL: Joe. What's wrong?
JOE: Did Kevin try to kiss you last night?
SHERYLL: Huh? Uh, n-no.
JOE: Sheryll don't lie. Frankie saw you two.
SHERYLL: Frankie?
FRANKIE: I was around the corner next to the vending machine.
[Sheryll whispered to Joe]
SHERYLL: Joe can we talk. Just the two of us?
JOE: Ok. Frankie, why don't you go to the vending machine and get some snacks.
FRANKIE: Ok.
[Joe handed Frankie some money and he was out the door]
JOE: Sheryll?
SHERYLL: Yes, Joe. He tried to kiss me.
JOE: What did you do?
SHERYLL: I didn't let him.
[Joe paced around the room]
JOE: What does he think he's doing? Doesn't he know what the [beep] he's doing?
SHERYLL: Joe, I guess he wants to... bring things back between us.
[Joe looked at Sheryll incredulously]
JOE: You say that like you wish it were true!
SHERYLL: No, Joe I don't.
JOE: Sheryll, why are you going out with me?
SHERYLL: Because you love me and I l-love you.
[The words almost choked Sheryll as they came up]
JOE: It doesn't sound like you love me.
SHERYLL: Joe, I do.
JOE: Really?
[Joe grabbed Sheryll by the shoulder and kissed her. But he quickly let go of her. Tears streamed down her face as she realized things had changed. She had been trying to hide it because she didn't want to accept it, but she didn't love Joe]
JOE: You're lying. You've been lying.
SHERYLL: Joe, I'm sorry. I didn't know.
JOE: I guess I should've expected it, huh? [Sarcastically] My brother did it to me, why wouldn't you?
SHERYLL: It's not like that.
JOE: It's not like what? It's not like my girlfriend can't admit she doesn't love me, but she loves my brother? It's not like I was made out to be this stupid guy who couldn't see you didn't love me anymore? It's not like I was the only one scared to lose you? Have a nice life.
[Joe slammed the door behind him and Sheryll sat, crying, on the bed. He was right. Of course he was. And now she had to pay for it. Sheryll lay back down. She no longer had any energy]
