im 33 and loved this as a boy growing up watching karate kid and now my little boy (6) is a wee chanter of this song from watching the same film.:) he wants to be a ninja because of this song now. good effort ma man.

Hi there! Thanks so much for your compliments. I'd really like to do this one over again, and have played it when it first came out in 1986, but never really sang it. It's a tough one!! I'd love to send you the sheets if I had them, but I really play this song by ear. I can send you the chords, and you would have to embellish on them...if that would help. Let me know!!

Great overall job- the piano was really nice.. if I could give one constructive criticism.. you have the voice for the song - not many people do.. you can sing it in full voice.. which is great.. but you cut off the ending of your phrasing a whole lot.. -- if you just form the end of each word .. like when you say "honor.. " it sounds like " .. on".. -- especially in the beginning.. great job, though.

Thanks Matt. I really appreciate your constructive criticism. Admittedly, it is quite a balancing act to play this song and try to sing it at the same time. When I started playing in 1983, Peter Cetera was my "inspiration" to play and write songs, and I've always admired his voice. Elton is another huge influence for me. I've seen them both live, as well as many other musicians. Sometimes I teether back and forth between the original recording and live versions while I'm playing. Thanks again!
