Another van rented to someone who has probably never driven anything larger than a salon car,

That's an extremely narrow road. Good job the van was so tall and narrow or it could have been much worse!
Sorry for being a bit flippant there. That was ridiculous; I agree you should report this one to the company. You could also go to the police, but they will only talk to the driver at best as they will probably say that no actual crime has been committed. (Even though it was dangerous driving.)

WAY TOO CLOSE! Report it. Seriously, report it.

Sorry but you are riding far too close to the kerb. Staying so close in is just seen, by some assholes, as an invitation to squeeze through at speed. Then if they realise they have misjudged it, or the person coming the other way drifts near the line, Mr asshole will pull in and clip you rather than a car coming the other way . It is much safer to ride in secondary position, about 3ft out, that makes Mr asshole wait until there is a gap and pull out further to correctly overtake you.

@cyclist68 Fair point, but I've found that taking secondary position on some roads usually results in drivers holding their horns down and buzzing me on purpose anyway! It's only a Brompton so I can't get much speed up and I'm very conscious of a queue of cars behind me. I think I will start doing that stretch in secondary though, I frequently get passed too closely up there (not as close as that van though!)
