  • i couldn;t do that , because i don;t remember what i played. it was a capture of that moment. thak you for the comments!!

  • thank you , for your comments. I never use a capo.

  • Absolutely FANTASTIC! Just bought this guitar, although I'm concerned it might sound just a bit soft for my tastes (too bass?). What kind of strings are you using? Would light gauge change the tone drastically?

  • @peterpulpitpounder thank you. i use elixir 11-52 always. I have tried martins-ghs-dr "10s" strings and it sounded NO GOOD. very thin sound for my taste.

  • thank you for the comment! best wishes!

  • could you please tell me the name of this song? it really is amazing. also fantastic recording and sampling of the HD28 sound, thanks for this :)

  • @RedLedZep thank you for the comments! this is not a song. it is an improvisation of that moment. nothing more. hehe...!

  • An average guitar made to sound GREAT..obviously it is the player.

I regret not having specified 1/4" braces when I ordered my "once in a lifetime" Martin.I am semi disappointed.I specified the premium Adirondack & Madagascar body with V neck & FS Ad. braces..but I found it somewhat stiff..especially compared to a Lowden. I neglected to regester in my mind that the best early Century Martins used 1/4" braces.Your guitar sounds very good here. I just bought the XLS..hopefully not another mistake.

  • I wish you lived next door so you could show me how you played this. Love it! I also wish I had the nice mic you used!

  • Great recording. Which version of the 414 is it?

  • @spimav1

Hmmm, and it doesn't sound too thin with the 11-52 elixirs?

  • @peterpulpitpounder Music Villa has an awesome custom HD-28. Not as flabby in the bass as an HD-28 and not as tight as a D-28, somewhere in the middle. It uses the golden era rear shifted bracing and swaps one of the 5/16 bass tone bars for a 1/4 bass tone bar. Its worth checking out. I have always been stuck between a D-28 and an HD-28 and the be the answer.

  • nice song

  • Did you use a capo?

  • @spimav1

I'm assuming you used the Elixirs on this recording. Whatever be the case, it sounds great. With my new HD28, I find the bass a bit muddy for my tastes. I have medium GHS strings on it now, and the original Martin mediums sound much better. I might experiement with a different saddle. I have to say that you playing is wonderful, and I wish I could do the same!
