Always a favorite of mine both the Song and the novelty Sax sextet the Six Brown bros. shine on this recording.
I had a sudden hankering to post a few records by the six brown brothers, the Hurtado Marimba band and a few Paul Whiteman's tunes. This songs show the difference between benign corporate songs that "then" legitimate musical would record, but early jazz groups would turn them into jazz standards. Record companies didn't realize the success of early jazz ensembles so even though popular music was changing they still kept to pre world war I tastes.

  • What's the little interlude they do in there called? It's a different tune than Strutter's ball. I know a lot of early records tended to "introduce" numbers by including them on sides.

  • @AAErikCO Its the 1st verse to darktown strutters, most people remember the chorus not the the 1st verse of music

  • Do you happen to have.... Six Brown Brothers - Battery Acid ? by chance

  • @OldskoolDnBtube Lol i dont think These Brown bros recorded anything after 1921. :(
