This is the first ever film footage and audio recording of a pope. It is of Leo XIII.

The film was shot in 1896. I've superimposed over the film, firstly, the Gregorian Chant 'Ave Maria I' and secondly the audio recording of the pope giving a blessing, captured in Rome in February 1903, the year of his death.

  • He looks like such a sweet and genial man! Love the music!

  • @Pearlaceous - doesn't he - glad you like the music (Gregorian Chant 'Ave Maria I') - it seems to work with the film footage. cheers

  • U FORGOT EXACT DAY! How TO DOWNLOAD ANY VIDEO

  • now, when there's a video or movie playing on your screen (like when you watch something on You Tube) the three little balls rotate. if you click on them the video on your screen will download onto your computer - it will be found in a 'dwhelper' (or 'Download Helper') folder - which will have been created in your 'downloads' folder. your 'downloads' folder is in the same place as your folders 'my videos', 'my documents', my pictures, 'desktop' and so on, under your 'user' (your name)

  • if you don't have 'modzilla firefox' you can download it free and use is as a supplimentary browser - easy and quite safe to do! and much less virus prone than 'explorer'

then you download one of firefox's free 'add on' programs - the one called 'downloadhelper'

when you've downloaded 'downloadhelper' a little icon of three coloured balls will appear on the toolbar at the top and towards the left end of any internet page you open

  • hi

you asked me on my channel how to download videos from You Tube. this is how it's done:

it's very easy to download things from You Tube

you do the downloading from the browser 'modzilla firefox' - it's like 'internet explorer' and can be used as an alternative ....

  • This was one of the greatest and least known Popes. He was given a vision of the evil spirits that surround us and produced the St Michael prayer still used extensively after the Rosary. It used to be part of the liturgy and when it was no longer used, the Church went into recession. Leo XIII was the Pope who met St Therese on her visit to Rome and gave her encouragement to enter the convent before the usual age.

  • this is the best bless who ever made this for i think the popes are cool

  • if you have trouble locating a downloaded file, just do a search of your C drive using the name of that file. or go to 'tools' on your top task bar and click on 'downloads' in the drop down menu - and then click on the film you've downloaded and select 'open containing file'

hope it goes well - it's a great way to save little films that might only be on the internet for a while and then dissappear - so you no longer have access to them

    best, nick
