Thank you for the great series. Thumbs up.

@Marzipancat Plus the premise was that Blake was angling for a government contract. Once his "powers" didn't work he would be exposed.

I kind of agree about the ending being a bit far-fetched with Columbo literally risking his neck. I suspect that Columbo tampered with more than just the labels, making it impossible for the guillotine to function.

Some TV theme albums seem to place the theme from episode one, Ransom for a Dead Man as the Columbo Theme

The ending on this was too far-fetched. Columbo would never have risked his life for the solution. He could not have known that the magician would have, without question, murdered again to insure Columbo's silence, especially considering that, when Columbo concludes a case, there are always other people close by to make the formal arrest, and they would know that it could not have been an accident, as the magician would claim, for the magician would not have ade such an error.

@JeffersonDinedAlone I agree. The ending of this episode really spoils the ending to this episode. Still, it is still a good episode.

the end title music in this clip was used in the UK as the generic Columbo theme for the NEW columbo episodes from the late 1980s

@revooh1 The only reason I kept the full credits on this video was because I love the music that goes with it. People often think that "This old man..." was the Columbo theme because Columbo whistles / sings it occasionally.
