  • I heard somewhere that during this entire scene (and all of the downtime between each shot and the next one) Jack Nicholson scared the hell out of some of the people on the set by staying in character as much as possible. He acted like Col. Jessup, he talked like Col. Jessup, he stayed in "tight uniform" and everything.

  • @nakedfaves thats awesome! You could get away with a lot as that! hahaha!

  • You could take any one of Nicholson's great performances throughout his career and any lesser actor would call it the crowning moment of his life---and Jack? Jack just rattled them off one after another after another. An amazing, transcendent talent.

  • @SimuLord Totally agree!!

  • I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise, but I think he does O.K. in this film. When you consider he had to handle Jack Nicholson,he gave quite a performance. I really like this movie, and watch it periodically, mainly for this confrontation.

  • @MOGGS1942 I watch it every 6-12 months myself! Definitely agree with you on the Class of the Actors...and the Writers...well moulded...well formed...Well excecuted film!

  • Say what you will about Tom Cruise as a person, but he's a VERY talented actor. People just like to deny it nowadays because they're "weirded out" by him. And I grant you, he is weird, but DAMN is he talented.

And Jack Nicholson...well, do I even *need* to say how talented he is?

  • @informationrevolt BAHAHAHAHAHA!! I just realised that!! Silly me!!

  • @TheShockMaster YES say it JUST SAY IT FOR THE GLORIOUS JACK NICKLSON.

  • @Neauvienne Having just viewed this video again,I think I will amend my earlier assessment of Cruise's performance. It was much better than " O.K".

  • @olexboy Have you seen the Court Room scene near the end of "The Caine Mutiny",where Humphrey Bogart is questioned by Jose Ferrer? It's every bit as rivetting as this one.

  • I don't want to be a Tom Cruise fan...but then there is this movie and Jerry McGuire and Born on the 4th of July....I have to begrudingly admit...He Really Was Really Good in these movies....Damn

  • @XxowendanxX BS. You know damn well that the movie isn't really about whether or not it's right to order a code red (although it WAS illegal to begin with). It's about how Jessup let two marines take the fall in order to save his own skin. BTW, wtf are you knuckleheads taking it so personally with a lawyer who is doing his job? He isn't arguing the moral issues of giving a code red, he's trying to prove that the marines were following orders. ffs did you even watch the movie?

  • A great movie, the ending which of course is the courtroom scene is the best I think you'll see anywhere
