1960 Marathi movie starring Raja Paranjape and Seema is chalie chaplinsque story of a simple man "Sakharam" who lands in a prison and then with a gang of thieves. The gangster has kidnapped a young girl and blinded her. She dances in the streets to make money for the gangster played by Dhumal. The girl is recovered by parents and from blindness, while hapless Sakharam is blinded by the gangster as a revenge. The highlight of the movie was amazing lyrics by G.D. Madgulkar and music by Sudhir Phadke.
Very very nice song. The wordings/meanings are heart touching.

Translation:
I see you ! Your Icon I bear in my heart ! Even though I'm blind I do see you !
My heart craves for your company ! Your laughter evokes love in my heart ! In your songs I bathe happy !
How lucky am I being pitch blind ! I see dreams, no matter I'm sleeping or awake !
It makes bearable my handicap!
Does a devotee see The Lord ? Does a river view the sea ? I flow to you eternally like her !
Even though I'm blind I do see you ! Your Icon is engraved on my heart !

Another beloved Asha-Seema clip from a movie that I imagine must have been a box-office hit-- or should have been!
