Gaza Island

The Freedom Flotilla 2, with 12+ boats carrying humanitarian aid and 1000+ peace activists, is sailing to Gaza in late June. Alice Walker, who's sailing with us, calls this the Freedom Ride of our generation. We want to help open this Palestinian port and end the illegal Israeli blockade, which has caused so much suffering. Meanwhile, the global BDS (Boycott Divestment Sanctions) movement is calling on Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson and Kiri Te Kanawa to cancel their 2011 Israel concerts and get on the boat!

Thank Allah we still have people willing to die for freedom in this world, while the rest sit back and watch. This people have hearts of gold, conscious, love, and caring. They all have family, yet they are putting themselves in harms way, Allah bless them all and give them protection. Damn Israel!

According to Hamas each Israel soldier is worth 1000 palestinians (as indicated by the shalit swap) there for ISrael had an equivalent of 13000 deaths compared to the measly 1400 the palys suffered

@Kreplach5 Eygpt opened and then promptly closed the border. Anyone who knows anything knows that. The Israeli's say "yeah, Eygpt is open" but it wasn;t open for long was it??! A few days maybe?? Come on mate.. things arn't working out like that. They also say their border is open for materials but agencies inside and outside Gaza say that's just a token moment and its not really happening. There are facts and there are semantics i'm sure i'm closer to the facts. Much love...

@Kreplach5 well, no need to be pedantic its a metaphor and a pretty accurate one. What is the function of a prison (not structural but functional)? It is restriction not prevention thus its clear from prison experience around the world and you could argue that internment camps are prisons, and even concentrations camps can be classified as 'open air' to a certain degree. Does the idea of not taking things literally make you uncomfortable?

If these activists really want to help the citizens of Gaza they would use the Rafa crossing in Egypt which is now open to deliver the aid. This would go directly to the Palestinians in Gaza who need this health care. However these activists decide to use provocation and sail directly into a military blockade in order to provoke a response. Also the intention to have famous musicians boycott Israel is ridiculous. Who cares if Bob Dylan performs in Israel?
