  • A fantastic production as usual. You always show every step in detail with great camera work. If I want to be inspired to do something with my lathe, I usually watch one of your videos. Thanks :)

  • @tryally I'm going to try this setup with a Sherline 1 amp stepper motor with 10 tooth drive pulley and high torque position on spindle pulley. I wish I had the 7 amps stepper motor and driver box.

  • @sittinduck1337

    You are totally correct.

Are two stepper motor, X (normal) and Z (more strong) I use any stepper motor com 5 to 7Ap for Z axis.

This is a simple way but very eficient for thread with Sherline lathe machines.

Here I use the original Sherline gears for threading too, and with my modification the results are fantastics.

Any questions please write to me okay.

    Best wishes fro Brazil.

  • @tryally Yes, I see in a previous video the gear set that synchronizes the spindle with the X-axis, that's where the magic happens. I noticed that Sherline sells the gears for threading. So, one stepper motor drives the spindle and X-axis. There also appears to be another stepper motor for the Z-axis because the tool pulls away when the spindle reverses, and moves back into cutting position when the spindle reverses again. So the CNC drives two axes. Very nice.

  • Well, my thread system is very simple, the stepper motor is only for move the handwheel. (7Ap stepper motor)

I dont use the software synchronize the X-axis with the spindle, I use only the EMC 2 for all moviments of handwheel.
