She played in AuSable woods, dad let me, 16, go alone to see her- 4-hour bus, 30-minute hitchhike, climb in cabin thru woodshed door--never locked. Stayed alone 2 weeks miles from all humans,mom furious, guns there,ammo; I came from 4-day coma, overdose cuz no one loved me.Later found dad's grandpa grew up in MI. woods with no stores, partridge squirrel and pigeon pot pies; didn't tell kids what to do . I'll never forget Buffy's role in my coming to see that Dad loved & trusted me.

@denismcdougall Hi, I'm Algonquin too, probably not much, as Buffy says, your great great grandfather, "and you feel you're a part of these ones". It was my father's grandfather's wife, we don't know if she was half or quarter, saskatchewan was her home too, or tiny Thompkins in it, 50 people strong in 1920, she was living in 1870, I just published a book with them in it.
