10 years ago Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones flew around the world in a balloon (the Briteling Orbiter 3). Can you remember? Did you follow the adventure? Give us your reactions. We would like to here from you. A selection of replies to this post will be used in an exhibition happening at the end of spring in Château-dOex Switzerland (the take off ground). Many thanks!

  • I am a big fan of air- ballooning and all things which fly too. Thats why i followed your tour around the world 10 years ago - and it was phantastic!! I read your book and saw all films about your flying around the world - its wonderful what you did - brave and absolutely thrilling! Congratulations for the 10th anniversary and keep always going on with your work and your dreams!! Many greetings from Germany and all my best wishes!

    Sabine

  • this is a great thing, and I want to work on this project for school, can somebody help me a litle bit for information

    thanks

  • Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. And it was a real pleasure to listen to you, Brian, yesterday in Tel-Aviv during your world tour. with little Orbiter 3! Good work with Winds of hope!!!

All the best for all your projects

  • Hi guys, congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. Brian it was a pleasure to meet you at the Bristol balloon fiesta last week and it's great to see you touring the world in your Oribiter 3 replica. All the best. Dave.

  • I can't believe it is already the 10 year mark for you guys. How much cubic feet is the Breitling Orbiter 3? That is the coolest balloon ever. I wish I had a balloon like that. I hope ot be a balloon pilot in the future. Hot air ballooning is #1

  • The jet streams speeds vary widely, and 161 was the best we managed. It was the last night of the flight and our only opportunity due to the lowest balloon weight, to push the balloon up into the jet stream core. BJ.

  • do it again sometime...Matt @ w & j tods

  • Hello, and congratulation on your anniversary!

I found Breitling project really interesting, read some of the flight log (amazing!), and I think, that such events are real inspiring to new generation. And you landed on the day of my birthday...a day to remember. !I also follow events on Esa web site.

Felicitations, et bonne chance avec Solar Impulse !

  • Hi Bertrand & Brian,

I'me 24 years old, the flight of the Breitling Orbiter 3 is one of the thinks I never going to forget in my life...I started to become interested in the around the world balloon attempts in 1995. I thank you and all the other teams for giving me the spirit of adventure and exploration. I still can not believe that it is allready 10 years ago since the flight of the Breitling Orbiter 3...Best wishes on the next adventures, Tom Corten

  • Congratulations on the 10th Aniversary of your flight!

I have a curiosity about your flight. The maximum speed was 161 knots while the jet stream can get over 200 knots at some locations. Did you decide not to get into certain spots for precaution or was it that you did not encounter stronger winds in your path.

    Best wishes for the future.
