Battling Bullying, EdCast's 2012 Telly award winning episode, examines what schools, parents and kids can do to combat bullying. Co-host and producer Dr. Linda Hirsch interviews Mark Weiss of Operation Respect, an organization founded by Peter Yarrow of the folk group Peter, Paul & Mary to assure each child a safe and compassionate learning environment. A skype interview with Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabes, the basis for the film Mean Girls, discusses bullying and gender and what parents can do to help children defend against bullying both in and outside of the classroom. Co-host and producer Jim Carney pays a visit to Dr. Stuart Chen-Hayes, a leader in counselor education at Lehman College/CUNY to see how teachers and administrators are trained to recognize and deal with bullying in a school environment and beyond.
