iv been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since i was 2.. im 23 now and i have so many health problems because of it... i hope they find a cure before its too late for alot of ppl....

That is the other part of the equation. Encapsulation may yet do that.
The question is, where would we get the tissue to solve the supply shortage of transplantable tissue. That is what stem cell research would allow for. Once we can do this, we can get the transplantable tissue.

Even if they could create a new pancreas for IDDM patients. The autoimmunity will still damage and/ or destroy it. There needs to be a cure for autoimmunity for this to be a "real" cure for diabetes.
