john mayer is great, jimi hendrix is a god. why is this so controversial? everyone on youtube is fucking stupid. its called a "cover"...he put his own twist on this song. a song that probably inspired him to be where he is today. you people are pathetic, id like to see someone in this room play as well as john mayer because i know thats impossible.

mayer's version is excellent but i think its almost like a different song...because he changes some of the melody notes and it has a different rhythmic groove than hendrix'...hendrix' i still prefer as aesthetically it gives me that "beauty" feeling in the music, whereas mayer's is more intense sounding and "euphoric" feeling...in a sense...blah...

John Mayer is great musician. People just try to discredit him because he looks like a pretty boy.

well you cant even spell Jimi right so how do we know you're intelligent enough to have good understand music, now don't get me wrong, Hendrix was the guitar God. But John Mayer's every bit as brilliant in his own way. at least he's not blatantly copying jimi hendrix, he's putting his own style on this cover, which as a musician i can respect.

It's not awful, but I think this song is the best song that Jimi has ever made. And trying to compare John Mayers version to the best song of the best guitarist in the history of the world is ridiculous. This being the best song from Jimi Hendrix and Jimi Hendrix being the greatest guitarist ever makes Jimi's version the best song ever made. I remember crying when I first heard it.. The only song I've ever cried to.
