Star Wars Episode VII Update : Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker Joining JJ Abrams Cast - ENTV

Luke Skywalker will officially be a part of JJ Abrams Star Wars Episode VII. The details are still being finalized, but Mark Hamill is definitely on board to bring Master Skywalker to the new trilogy. Let us know what you think Luke will be doing in the new movie. Jedi Academy? Force spirit like Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi?

As a longtime Star Wars fan, I look forward to them.

You cant ground starwars in ay kind of particular era, becus it totally has its own universe which is like nothing else. Its like they cant think up a new direction without sticking to some kind of familiar character. I guess its half and half really, many fans want to see a new generation with the old, but many other fans just want to go much further bk cus theres alot more story to be told there, maybe even the origins of how the Sith came about as fallen Jedi mixed with that race.

The best effects are a combination of physical FX and CGI. The prequels were 3 hours worth of screensavers. You knew you were looking at computer renderings. Boring.

Studios overuse CGI because it's cheaper to pay a few hundred folks behind computers than pay a team of specialists to think up creative ways of making something fantastical appear real.

Physical effects often look better than CGI. Watch 2001: A Space Odyssey. Made in 1968, and the effects, entirely physical, stand up today.

But they really should go even further bk-ward, like 1000s of yrs before Anakin and even Luke's time era. It would be much more interesting exploring the origins of how the Jedi and Sith even came about, rather than them trying to make up their own "original" Ideas off the bat.

Well I should be pleased, Ive always liked Starwars the most, but Im still very skeptical about it all. Im not building my hopes up about this at all right now, I think Im just going to wait until I see pics and footage appear of it, when they start filming and then see for myself what I think.

yeah, I think so. He stated that as a child he was obsessed with Star Wars and never got into Star Trek. His Star Trek movie is more StarWarsy then Trekkie, and he admitted it. Star Wars is in good hands, trust me :)

I'm hoping they go retro. Something about the prequel's CGI just rubs me the wrong way.

Well that first part you say seems extremly bias. So let me get this right, just because Abrams was not much of a fan of Star Trek he felt he had to basically water it down in a way that would suit him and mainstream (non fans), in general. So basically take all the essence out of what makes Star Trek, and just leave the look intact and only focus on action but with some nods to the classic. But Abrams will not do any of that with Starwars because he is a "fan" of that particular franchise.

I don't think so. He made Star Trek appealing to non Trek fans because he liked Star Wars more than Star Trek. So if he does Star Wars, he won't change the feeling of the originals, as he is a fan of them.
