Worked on her... she was a beauty, a floating museum built in 1949. Engine room was a blast. A real steamship!

First freighters on the lakes that burned fuel oil were the Henry Ford II and the Benson Ford with diesel engines in 1925. The Sykes, one of the prettiest freighters ever, was the first on the lakes to burn #6 fuel oil or bunker C as fuel for her steam turbines.
