This is a brief demonstration of a DIY delay pedal kit offered by http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/. It is a digital delay with an analog sound...very cool. The voltage conversion is a cool thing except it does rob battery life. It is recommended to utilize an adaptor for extended use.

  • One must not demo a delay of any kind without sneaking in U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"...

    Aside from that, good job.

  • @Partsocaster: Great tune! And thanks...

  • @jwyatt4 great demo! Thinking of building this kit.... Was the enclosure painted orange when you bought it or did you paint it yourself?

  • @BadBluesman887: Sorry for the late response. I painted it orange. All the boxes come raw & unpolished. I don't paint them much anymore especially since I got into building them for others. I am experimenting with different design options for asthetic appeal though.

  • So is this the closest kit or PCB you have to a slapback echo pedal at this time? I'm interested in tape and space echo effects pedals.

Are you running several pedals off a single 9V supply? If so, how do you set that up?

  • @Parsa9 Yes, so far. You can get pretty close if you mess with it though. My pedal board is kind of a customized thing I put together from an SKB. The original had 8 ports for powering 8 pedals and I installed 6 more from an older SKB and did some fancy routing so all the wires won't get in the way, etc.

  • @PHAEDRIDER Yes I've messed about with several PT2399 based delays. I've come back to the Carbon Copy 3 times. I find that using that chip gives it a certain digital sound that really isn't analog, it's just not crystal clear like a DD5 or similar, but it's not soft like an analog delay. If you put this side by side with a Carbon Copy you'll say oh right, I hear this cold dead thing in the echo.

  • @BrotherDevious I built this one for myself and if you look closely, you can see I carved the labels into the paint. I later put labels on it though.

  • Nice vid, be nice if the knobs were labelled.

  • @Ombrenuit Cool, it's a dandy.
