While Craig Thomson MP remains under investigation, Federal Minister Anthony Albanese has been accused of plagiarisng a Hollywood script in a speech attacking Opposition Leader Tony Abbott. This was in a report by Laurie Oakes broadcast by Channel 9, the National Nine Network, on 25 January, 2012
The Minister had recently been called on to explain why funds had been diverted from high priority work on a dangerous section of the Pacific Highway. This was the scene of a serious accident where a truck had run off the road into a holiday home killing a sleeping boy.
The funds had been diverted to lower priority roadwork in the nearby electorate of independent MP Robert Oakeshott, whose crucial vote has kept the government in power.
Ministerial performance would no doubt be improved if governments and MPs were made accountable to the public not only every three years at the time of the election, but at all times by a system of direct democracy

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that plagiarism, for lack of a better word, is good. Plagiarism is right, plagiarism works. Plagiarism clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Plagiarism, in all of its forms; plagiarism for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And plagiarism, you mark my words, will not only save Australia, but that other malfunctioning entity called the Australian Labor Party. Thank you very much.
