my grandad was a driver on this train i believe i only have one memory of being on platform at langstone so we could get on with my nan have no pictures of him his name was hartfree

Is that a spark arrestor on the chimney??

Indeed it is. The Terriers used on the Hayling Island line needed to be fitted with spark arresters for the protection of the wooden viaduct across Langstone Harbour.
