Also, good video sir. I'm an American mutt, (Irish, Scottish, English, French, German, Italian, and Cherokee & Shawnee), and as such, I pay homage to ALL Americans. Deo Vindice. E Pluribus Unum.

Too many suffered in this war, so why can't we just get along for once? I have family on both sides of the war, (Maj. Gen Rbt. Ransom, CS Cav., and Gen U.S. Grant) I honor my heritage to all the north and all the south, it's dispicable that political correctness has taken over for the truth. These men in both the blue and grey fought for thier nation, and we should honor them as such. Also in 1958 the United States Congress, passed into law that all CS veterans were on the same level as US vets.

Sorry to dissappoint both sides of the Black Confederate issue, but when Richmond burnt in early April of '65, alot of the records went up in smoke, so we can never really say how many black soldiers were in the CS armed forces. I may be a southron, but the truth may never be known. Facts are still being dug up by both sides of the Mason-Dixon, and history is ever changing. Plus there is the old phrase, "to the victor goes the spoils"... Also, a blog is for discussion and ranting, NOT facts!

@UnionStatesHeritage I hope you live in Detroit or Philadelphia, so you can receive the benefit of the results of the Union victory.

@lakotadak Nope. Black Confederates are a recent attempt at politically-correct revisionism on the part of CSA supporters. The myth is a 21st extension of the loyal slave myth, made popular by Lost Causers in the late 19th Century.
If you want to get some real facts on this myth, go to the blog site Civil War Memory. The site covers Black Confederates (or more accurately the lack thereof) in detail.

@UnionStatesHeritage Was many Free black that fight for The Confederate aswell!

@MarchToFreedom Yeah, how about almost half the South's population? Four MILLION slaves consigned to perpetual servitude by the CSA's Constitution. What about THEIR "freedom" 180,000 of them, many escaped slaves, joined the US Colored Troops. So, what were they fighting for, "Northern agression"? "tyranny"?
-
@MarchToFreedom LOL...So, where were you sympathies in regards to East Tennessee? Western Virginia? or Kentucky? How 'bout Colorado & New Mexico Territories. All areas that fought for freedom from the Confederate Empire.
-
@fllrovcm I'm from Central Pennsylvania. Yep, the political power structure in the eastern third of the state is a thorn in the side of the rest of the state. However, that analogy with the CSA doesn't hold water. The Republican Party was formed due to the fact that Northerners & Westerners were tired of having the Southern-controlled Federal Gov, interfering in their affairs...Fugitive Slave Laws, Bleeding KS, etc.
@Stonewallmatze Danke schön! I'm a Southern American with German heritage. We have never forgotten our forefathers, and never will. Great video sir.
