This technique shows how to do a no-chain dc with a color change after ending off the previous color. This creates a true dc.

Wow, thanks for sharing I saw this on ravelry and had to check it out. I was wondering if there was a way to do that and now I know.
I also have a question. Can you do something like this for half double crochet stitches or can you only use this for double crochet?

@rey0girl Absolutely! You can do it with trc, too, but the more YO's you do, the tougher it is to keep control of the stitch.
