This was the last gig John played with the Who. I was there on the 8th Feb 2002, when John played this 5.15 bass solo for the last ever time. Look at what Pete does at the end.

  • I know Kenny Jones took a LOT of stick for his follow up gig to Keith Moon. But, Im sorry, I have never warmed up to Zach Starkey....this wonderful clip of John simply confirms it...fucker sounds to me as if he (Starkey) is mailing it in...good timekeeper but NOTHING electrifying.

And john e. with his arteries clogged with fucking cholesterol still puts the boy to shame. Goddamn I do miss The Ox.

  • @videostan yeah but Zak is not supposed to be doing anything spectacular here, it's John's solo - this is not a Heven And Hell type situation where everyone is soloing at once.

  • One of the Greatest if not THEE Greatest Bass player in Rock N Roll ..NEVER To Be Duplicated again......Just as the Combo of Entwhistle / Moon ...NEVER to be duplicated EVER EVER EVER EVER.

The Who were comprised of 4 LEAD Musicians.....

    Lead Guitar

    Lead Singer

    Lead Bass

    Lead Drums

Find that now a days..........you'll die trying.

  • @whotles69 - I know just what you mean. Tea and Theatre always makes me cry too. Great big wails to be honest. Runny nose the works. Bugger Pete Townshend and his songwriting gift. He sure knows how to wring out your heart.

John Entwistle - best bass guitarist ever to pick up an instrument.

Keith Moon - best drummer to ever park his arse on a drumstool.

The Who - best rock band in the world.

Just my humble opinion, however. I'm a musician myself, and they always blow me away.

  • This is great to see,i was there check out 5.15 videos that people submitted as part of the compitition for best video by fans the winner is very good

  • If John Entwistle finegred a girl she'd orgasm in a split second.

  • @heavymaskinen LOL just noticed this reply. Anyway, no. Just...no.

  • We couldnt see John play alot of the solo because he stuck close to the amp line during it, but he came back during the brief break and had a smoke behind the stacks and waved up at the bunch of us sitting up there - best sound I ever heard at a concert until then, I started buying side-stage seats ever after that.. It is so amazing to see a fan clip from virtually our view, only better.

  • So fantastic that you filmed this, you must have been within sight of us at this gig, I saw it with my future wife from the restricted-view seats just behind John's side of the stage. (We'd gotten engaged the day before and went and bought a ring after the fact that day in Ealing Common, though we we over on a trip from Canada at the time).

  • i agree with videosam ...Zack is generous but no genius ....

  • @fart813 RUSH...Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Neil Peart (although I admit that Geddy's voice is an acquired taste). I feel ya though. If you don't love the Who, you don't love good music.
