if she was struggling because of the 'drugs', we didnt know it, huh?...she's one of those ol' school veteran actors that just manage to keep it movin...and her carriage is VERY ol' school...they dont groom actresses like this anymore. Everything about her is dignified and sincere. Like great actresses from her generation, she can get your attention without saying a damm thing...her facial expressions tell you all you need to know. She's just impeccable..

Very astute observation. She had to negotiate a field that included Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Ruby Dee, etc. Her best opps came only by playing the game that, today, will find producers and directors buried by Gloria Allred and the anti-sexist establishment that will sue you into sun and sky~

I like Diahann Carroll a lot myself. I think she's a fantastic singer. It's hard to believe the woman is pushing 80.

Diahann was fine in her day she almost 80 and you still can't tell! Many black women today dont have these types of women to look up to its very sad.

My dad used to watch Julia, when I was just a kid, and I will always remember her from that show. Several years back, she gave a speech at my company, and I was the last of maybe 100 people lined up to talk to her and get autographs. By the time I got up to where Ms. Carroll was standing, I could see how tired she was. But she chatted with me for a minute anyhow, and autographed an old B&W publicity photo I had of her. I've never forgotten that kindness. She is a class act!

Diane was once a model as well. What I don't get was how Sidney Portier spurned her. She was so in love but a book I read once, painted him as sort of not so nice to Dianne. I guess you can't help who you love. But Ms. Carroll has always been delightful and I have never heard of her making a fashion 'mistake' as so many women do. She was always on the Best Dressed Woman's list. So much grace, so much talent in acting and voice. Love her!

I love her. Im always shocked when people today say "you do you" and when a person does they want to argue that your fake or not ginuine. the is a lady. she also leaves room for everyone else to be themselves
