Without any doubt Patrick Manzecchi is the paramount drummer of contemporary jazz. Skills (manual and pedal) and ideas of masters like Baby Dodds, Cozy Cole, Sid Catlett, Chick Webb, Jo Jones, Sam Woodyard, Klook, Max, Jimmy Cobb, Philly Joe, Elvin, Pete La Roca etc. coalesce pulsatingly - but Patrick Manzecchi's distinct musical identity is his very own. Thanks a bomb for playing this masterly solo! And thanks a lot for posting this great vid.

It's not only the shirt that surprises, but also his amazing chops.
Though I've seen and heard even better solos from him this one shows clearly: Watch out for this cat!
With no doubt one of the most advanced - and sadly also one of the most underrated - drummers in Germany (read this twice)!
