The power of the centralized state rooted in collectivist ideology is the biggest threat to our freedoms and safety, NOT nuclear war and environmental degradation. Governments use real and imagined threats to bring about fear to control populations and abolish liberty. This is happening right now with our current "war on terrorism."

Apart from the still real danger of nuclear war and present day environmental catastrophes, most being totally false or highly exaggerated, there are other horrible ways to die. While all the atomic war hysteria was going on during the cold war governments around the world, especially communist ones, murdered well over 160 million human beings. Red China alone murdered 30 million of its subjugated population from 1949 to 1973 alone.

wtf? why would something as stupid as the doomsday clock be introduced and published in front of the public eye unless it was true..based on actual events. What I mean is..the people moving the minute hand actually know stuff we don't..think about it, nobodies gonna move the damn minute hand to midnight and watch nothing happen..conversely what is the point of it being published in public view if somethings gonna happen without being able to see the minute hand tick to midnight.
