I'd be curious to know if he had advance knowledge of the question; had been told it was coming.

You can just look at his face and reaction to the questions and tell that he is lying. People in power are never going to tell the public whats going on. The interviewers never really expand on their questions and demand answers. The subject is always quickly changed because they want people to dumb and accept general answers to their questions.
